• On the Application for Licensure screen, click the “Initial Application” from the left menu and then follow the steps below:

• Select “Medical Cannabis – Parent Guardian” from the dropdown list of license types. In this case, you are the parent or legal guardian of the patient who is a minor. After completing this application, you must follow up by completing an application for the Medical Cannabis Patient on behalf of the patient. It is the primary parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to complete this form on behalf of the minor.
• You must complete the Medical Cannabis Patient application without fail once you have completed the application for the caregiver of an incapacitated adult. Once you have completed this application, you must also complete the Medical Cannabis Patient application without fail for the care facility’s patient. It is the responsibility of the primary caregiver who lives with the incapacitated adult to complete this form on behalf of the adult.
• In the drop-down menu next to the Obtained By field, choose “Initial Application.”
• Using the Start Application button, you will be able to start the application.

• Upon completing the registration process, you will be required to pay the registration fee: $50 for patients; $25 for parents/legal guardians.

  • Providing proof of your residence, including proof of residency of a parent or legal guardians who are living with you, such as a government-issued identification card or tax receipt, should be enough proof of your residency;
  • An official identification card issued by the government that shows the patient’s identity and, if the patient is a minor, an identity card showing the parent or legal guardian’s identity in the form of a government-issued document;

Virginia Marijuana Laws and Cannabis Legalization

Before COVID-19, Virginia had one of the most restrictive cannabis programs in the nation. As far back as COVID-19, residents of the state were allowed to possess small amounts of cannabis for a fine of $25, but only under certain circumstances. However, things have changed. This list can be expanded upon the diagnosis and approval of a physician.

SB 1557 gives physician assistants and nurse practitioners the authority to issue written certifications for medical cannabis oils, such as cannabidiol and THC-A. To implement this bill, the Board must promulgate regulations establishing dosage limitations for THC-A and cannabidiol oil, which must not exceed 10 milligrams per dispensed dose of tetrahydrocannabinol.

On April 7, 2021, the state house will automatically expunge misdemeanour criminal records. A VA resident may delete a criminal record about marijuana possession, alcohol or tobacco possession by an underage person with the police and the state. As of July 1, 2022, the expungement process is scheduled to begin and is expected to be completed by July 1, 2026.

As of January 1, 2024, marijuana will be decriminalised in Virginia and allowed for retail sales, cultivation, and manufacturing.

The Board of Pharmacy no longer requires MMJ patients to register with them after obtaining written certification from a licensed practitioner following the signing of HB 933 and SB 671 in April 2022.

Starting July 1, 2022, medical cannabis patients, their parents, and their legal guardians will not be required to register with the Virginia Board of Pharmacy. Possession and plantation

There is no limit on how many doses of THC a licensed physician or medical assistant can prescribe in a single day, up to ten milligrams per dose. There are several ways in which medical cannabis can be consumed, including capsules, sprays, tinctures, lozenges, creams, gels, patches, edibles, and inhalation devices. A 30-day supply of cannabis flowers (flowers) can currently be consumed in four ounces.
